Hand-Sculpted Wood Bowls + Vessels

In terms of form, vessels can be more challenging than carving a figure. Similar to a figure, the vessel may convey motion, direction and balance, though it does so in an abstract way. Carving a free form vessel is like the art of Bonsai…there is a sense of flow and balance without harsh structural lines. A successful piece is often simple, spontaneous and not overworked. The “orbital” form represents many facets from nature and science – it is envisioned at times as a cell, egg, electron, planets, star systems, and human qualities.
