VANESSA BEECROFT Untitled 2022 – Vanessa Beecroft—renowned for redefining performance art and the representation of the female body—has exhibited internationally since 1993. Her work explores the tension between vulnerability and strength, individuality and collectivity, and the boundaries between art, identity, and form. Her collaboration with Henzel Studio began in 2018, during a period when she returned to painting and sculpture. One of these paintings—a distorted female figure—was transformed into a hand-knotted rug through a meticulous two-year process. Variable pile heights and material compositions create a painterly, sculptural surface that echoes the intensity of the original artwork. Beecroft’s work has been featured at leading institutions including the Guggenheim Museum, MAXXI Rome, the Deste Foundation, and Art Basel Miami.
