The Erode Console envisions the geomorphic erosion process as an analogue to the sculptural practice of fabricating carved furniture. The stacked-lamination process has a lot in common with the way topographical features of a landscape form and de-form over time, and the abrasive materials used on wood (i.e. sand) are often the same materials active in processes of erosion. This process of removal, transportation and deposition of materials, while largely random, tends toward certain patterns, and the Erode series explores ways of reproducing or simulating these patterns in furniture pieces. The Erode Console comes with or without two drawers that blend into the undulating front. A hidden cleat secures the piece to the wall.
